The Easiest Detox Drink. Ever.

OK, so this one is probably less recipe and more a recommendation. But there are ingredients involved (two) and a rough measurement…That said, post January 17th, aka Ditch Your New Year’s Resolution Day (yes, that’s an actual thing) I truly believe we need more easy and accessible wellness recommendations/recipes to help us stay - or get back- on track. Here it is folks, THE easiest and best detox drink around: warm lemon water.

10-12 ounces warm water (not boiling)

the juice of half a lemon, lemon slices with peel.

Add lemon juice and slices to warm water, preferably in a heat safe glass jar. Metal containers tend to alter the taste, and studies have shown aluminum and acidic beverages don’t mix. Air on the side of caution and stick with a ceramic mug or mason jar.

WARM lemon water has incredible health benefits, especially when consumed first thing in the morning.The warmth of the water helps extract vitamin C and polyphenols (aka plant nutrients and antioxidants) from the lemon and peel. This simple sipping drink helps digestion, alkalizes your body, is a natural diuretic (bye, bye bloat!), and gives your immune system a vitamin boost. Drink up, drink often. Just remember to rinse mouth well with clean water after drinking lemon water to prevent acid from the lemon juice from harming tooth enamel over time.
